Fees: $20 (Waived for Documented Proof of Spay/Neuter($10) and/or Rabies ($10))

Dog Owner Surrender (For Richardson Residents ONLY)

Euthanasia (For Richardson Residents ONLY)

Please note the Type of animal (Dog, Cat, Other) and the Reason for Euthanasia (Health, Age, Temperament). Vet note recommending euthanasia required. We reserve the right to refuse service.

We are not able to have you in the room before, during, or after the procedure (per state law). You will need to say goodbye in our lobby.

Additionally, we perform communal cremation with the remains – so we are unable to return ashes or release the body back to you for a private burial. You can choose to hire a third-party company to pick up the remains from us and do a private cremation/burial. Most residents that use this service pick “Pet Memories” or “Toothacres”. Please arrange this pickup with them prior to your appointment, as we are not able to hold remains for an extended period of time.

Euthanasia Fee: $25

I have been crying to give up my beloved Blue Heeler for days before the surrender, knowing I had to give up to downsize my house to apartment living. The apartments only allow 2 animals. I chose keeping my beloved cats. Hard choice but they are easier for me to take care of. The surrendering to the best care to give my dog Star another loving family, assured me they have his best care at heart. It is my hope and prayers they will give Star the best opportunity for adoption. Everyone was so understanding and kind for both Star's and mine need to give up for my retirement and selling my house. They made the transition easy on me and my tears stopped and there is great hope they will give him the best opportunity for a new home. I am so pleased with their empathy to help Star have a forever home. Thank you! I am at peace!

It was a sad decision to have to make, but the staff at the Richardson animal shelter couldn’t have been any more understanding and kind.

The staff was very organized and friendly. They were great with my dogs and got the microchipping done quickly on my two dogs.
